The Ontario Association of Crime Stoppers is a not-for-profit, charitable organization run by a volunteer Board of Directors comprised of volunteers from across the province representing local Crime Stoppers programs, police services and other crime prevention partners.
The Board meets monthly to discuss new Crime Stoppers initiatives, community outreach activities and issues facing local programs.
The Board is responsible for fundraising; campaigns to educate the community about Crime Stoppers; and administering the funds for the payment of rewards.
Crime Stoppers is not funded by any government program. Money raised by the Board comes from community fundraising events, sponsorships and donations by local citizens and businesses. We do not receive government funding to operate our programs or pay tipster rewards. We do get some funding to subsidize our after-hours call centre but that is all.
The goals of the OACS Board include:
Together, we can all make a difference.
Crime Stoppers is NOT a police organization but rather a PARTNERSHIP of the community, the media and law enforcement all working together to keep our community safe.
